von Dutch at Cremerie de Paris

von Dutch took over Cremerie de Paris N°6, on place Marguerite de Navarre — probably the world's most iconic pop-up location — for a summer pop-up during Paris Fashion Week. Discover the full story and pictures on the official Cremerie de Paris page.

The von Dutch brand

von Dutch was founded in 1999 in Los Angeles, in honour of the artist Kenny Howard, a.k.a. “von Dutch”, a pinstriper of the Kustom Kulture. The brand quickly became a Hollywood favourite — Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears wore its trucker caps. In 2004 the French footwear group Groupe Royer took a von Dutch licence; in 2009 it acquired the brand; in 2015 Earl Pickens joined as designer; and in 2023 von Dutch opened its pop-up store at Cremerie de Paris N°6, adding a new touch of glamour to a fashion history that goes back to 1648.

The Pop Up Store

The von Dutch Pop Up Store opened from Saturday 17 to Sunday 25 June 2023, from 12 pm to 8 pm, to celebrate the summer — right by the Marguerite de Navarre exit of Châtelet–Les Halles. The brand's famous trucker caps were presented in a bold street-art setting.

A Fashion Week cocktail

During Paris Fashion Week in June 2023, a von Dutch cocktail lit up Cremerie de Paris N°6 and the adjacent N°7 (Maison Rouge), with a DJ set and a fashionable crowd. Barman Erwan Hamon and Camille La Corte were among the guests of the party.

The creative minds behind the pop-up

The pop-up was designed by Earl Pickens (earlpvd), head designer at von Dutch. The graffiti street artists Thomas Mestre (Djalouz) and Nicolas Icon (Onepesca) created the caps wall. The store was managed by Olivier Mercier (Groupe Royer), with Zulma Zara and Segolène Folly of von Dutch.

The von Dutch Pop Up was so spectacular, it turned into a permanent “online”
Tourist Attraction

When a Cremerie de Paris Pop Up Store is well done, something unique comes with it. The Expo becomes part of the history of a landmark that is a crossroads between past and future — the same place that saw every Bourbon King of France walk through its courtyard at VB (Hôtel de Villeroy-Bourbon) was, at the very dawn of the Internet, an avant-garde Internet café. The von Dutch Pop Up Store continues to be admired from the homepage of VB.com — the only "two-letter dot-com" in the world connected to a Pop Up Store / Museum location. Thus von Dutch becomes an online tourist attraction on a prestigious "Visit" tourism website. Internet Users and Paris Lovers will keep discovering the von Dutch event through time.
