Emily in Paris at Cremerie de Paris
When Darren Star planned the Emily in Paris film shoot, he wanted to use emblematic locations tied to the history of Paris. Stéphanie Perret and the glamorous Aminata Touré were given the mission of finding the film locations. What fascinated Aminata were all the links between fashion designer Gabrielle Chanel and the Cremerie de Paris.
The Cremerie de Paris was transformed into a gym called "Air & Velo". Emily (Lily Collins) was jogging along the Seine and her route passed by this nearby gym — the Cremerie de Paris. French girls standing outside were smoking, which surprised Emily, and she made an Instagram post about them. Skyviews from an apartment opposite gave a lovely view over the ambiance of the shoot. Emily sees the Gym "Air & Velo" while jogging, it appears in Season 1, Episode 3, titled "Sexy or Sexist." The scene is brief: Emily runs past the studio, notices fashionable Parisians heading in for a spin class, and posts a photo on Instagram with the caption "#Frenchworkout #SmokinBodies."
In between pop up stores and film shoots, Cremerie de Paris is dressed as a "Pop Up Store Museum": the windows change all the time, letting passers-by discover the cool events that have taken place here. From time to time, one window fills with pictures of the "Emily in Paris" shoot — it's funny to watch tourists gaze at the skyviews and murmur, "Ah yes, this must be the spot we knew from the film." Another window features Vincent van Gogh, who used to come by around 1888 — it's fun to see which window draws more attention.
Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890) and his brother Theo van Gogh (1857 - 1891) were friends of the painter and art collector Eugene Boch (1855 - 1941) who has a family connection with Cremerie de Paris.
