Gladines is a Paris institution for generous, affordable Basque and South-West French cooking — giant salads served in bowls, magret de canard, piperade and Basque cake, in a lively, no-frills setting popular with a young crowd. The Les Halles address also carries a slice of Paris legend: it is remembered as the place where, long ago, a love affair is said to have begun between Joe Kennedy Jr and Aimée de Heeren.
